About our New Name

Why Topside? Topside is a nautical term. When you are Topside, you are above the water's surface with the best view on the vessel. The heart of our mission has always been providing the support our members need to stay on top of their finances. We are proud to continue our "serving to support" mission internally, in the community, and with our members.
 
You will start seeing the name go into effect on June 17th.
The website, online banking, and mobile app will update to the new name and look on July 7th.
Your cards, checks, and all other products and services will continue to work until their original expiration date! We have not merged with another financial institution or been bought out. We are still the same Credit Union, we just have an updated name to support continued growth!
 
In less than a year we will be celebrating 60 years of service. Since we first opened our doors in 1961, we have been committed to providing the best value and services available to this community. As our credit union continues to grow with valuable members like you, we are making positive changes and creating new opportunities to ensure our relevancy for generations to come.
 
Over the last two years, your board and credit union staff have been working with a trusted agency to determine our best options for continued service and support. Through the process, we identified the need to rebrand ourselves. Our staff is so excited to announce our new inclusive name that dually honors our heritage and welcomes all members of this amazing community.

 

We hope the following Questions & Answers will address other questions you may have:

Q: When will the name change take effect?
A: We will announce our new name to you on June 16th and make the switch from then into July.

Q: Is the name a result of a merger or acquisition?
A: No. The name change is not the result of a merger or acquisition of any kind. You are still a member-owner and you will find the same great people ready to serve you.

Q: Why are you changing the name of the credit union?
A: Growing our membership means growing our benefits and services for our members. Presently our name communicates that we are an exclusive and closed group. We want to be inclusive of every member and market we serve.

Q: Will the ownership of the credit union remain the same?
A: Yes. The credit union will continue to be 100% owned by you, the members.

Q: How did you select the new name?
A: We spent many months working with a joint team of Board, management, and staff under the guidance of an experienced and respected branding agency who specializes in credit unions.

Q: What will change with the new name?
A: There will be no impact to your existing relationship with us, or any changes to your day-to-day banking. You will see changes to our exterior signage in late June or July.

Q: Will the credit union’s contact information change?
A: No. All phone numbers and physical addresses will remain the same. We will have a new website address and new email addresses, but all the old addresses will still forward to us.

Q: Will my account number(s) change?
A: No, your account number(s) will remain the same.

Q: How will fees, loan rates, and deposit rates be impacted by the name change?
A: Rates and fees will not be negatively affected by the name change. We will continue to monitor our rates and fees like we always have. Rates and fees do fluctuate, but they are adjusted in response to the market conditions.

Q: Will I still be able to use my checks?
A: Yes, your checks will still work. When it’s time for you to re-order, new checks with the new name of the credit union will be issued.

Q: Will my credit and debit cards still work?
A: Yes, your credit and debit cards will continue to work. When the time comes for you to receive a new card it will have the new name and logo.

Q: If I have automatic payments taken from my account or receive direct deposit, will I need to do anything?
A: No, everything will stay the same. Our routing and transit number will not change and your account number will not change, therefore, there are no additional steps or changes you need to make.

Q: Will I be able to access Online Banking and Mobile Banking?
A: You will continue to have access to Online Banking, Mobile Banking, and the credit union website.

Q: Will branch days of operation and hours change?
A: The branches will continue to be open and available to you the same days and times that you expect.

Q: Will the employees at my credit union branch change?
A: The employees that you’ve grown accustomed to serving you at your branch will be here waiting to serve with the same personalized service that you expect.

Q: Is the credit union’s insurance changing?
A: No, all deposit accounts will continue to be federally insured by the NCUA.
